Kathleen A. Marchione is an American politician currently serving as a State Senator from New York's 43rd district. A Republican, she has previously served as the Saratoga County Clerk from 1997 through 2013. ==Career== Marchione first entered public service at the age of 25 serving as the town clerk in her hometown of Halfmoon. She subsequently served as a town supervisor there and later the clerk of the Saratoga County Board of Supervisors.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=New York State Senator - Kathleen A. Marchione - Biography )〕 In 1997, she won a special election to be the Saratoga County Clerk following the resignation of Rosemarie Corbett who was accused of stealing money. She was subsequently elected to a full term in 1998 and has won re-election every four years thereafter until her election to the State Senate. In 2007, she was chosen as the President of the New York State Association of County Clerks.〔 In 2009, Marchione led a group of New York county clerks to oppose a plan to require the replacement of new license plates beginning in 2010. In 2012, Marchione challenged incumbent Republican State Senator Roy McDonald in the Republican primary held on September 25, 2012. Marchione derided McDonald lacking a consistent conservative voting record, specifically his votes in favor of the Marriage Equality Act and Governor Andrew Cuomo's tax plan in 2011. Ultimately, Machione defeated McDonald in the primary by 99 votes out of a total of 14,579 votes.〔(【引用サイトリンク】title=New York State Board of Elections - September 13, 2012 Primary Vote )〕 Marchione won the November general election with 47% of the vote defeating Democrat Robin Andrews who had 37% and McDonald who remained on the Independence Party line and received 16% of the vote.
